Hey this is a really cool idea guys. If you havn’t been Carlos’ Cafe is good I think, it’s next to Toyo, as well as Ni Shi Gi’s, and Luigi’s! Just a couple of idea and I do believe they’re all local establishments. I love eating and trying new places as well so thanks for publishing your finds.
So I’m considering changing my dieting plans. Tell me what you think of my idea…cook more health conscious foods at home and only eat out at the Mike and Lauren approved locations. :0) You all paint a lovely picture. Thank you both so much for sharing!
We don’t have any outstanding Chinese places. Hong Kong next to Bi-Lo (old location) on cherry used to be great. The owners sold it, moved to Herlong. Apparently they sold it again. Whenever they sell and someone else buys it, the taste quality goes downhill. The brown sauce that family made was the best!!!
Hoopers has some surprisingly good food. Not a bad beer selection either.
Mc Hales opened their top floor. I haven’t been up there yet but it’s supposed to have a great bar. I think their happy hour includes $1 tap drinks. Their food aint bad, I’ve had better Bangers and Mash, but I really root for the place and hope for it’s continued success.
Word on the street is Costal Grill’s crabcakes are out of this world.
Groucho’s has a very good tuna melt but I think the majority of their sandwiches are so-so. I also had a hot sandwich from them and the cheese tasted fake. You know, the kind that looks like elmer’s glue?
SubStation II has a great #19.
Penn Station has the best sub bread in town! Their fries are also great.
Build a Burger is decent. The whole idea is that you build it, but the condiment cart isn’t all that special, nor big.
I had turkey and dressing at Olde Town and I swear it was canned dressing. You know, that yellow kind with the little black dots in it?
The chinese buffet on Cherry across from the bookworm has outstanding sweet & sour wings on the buffet and the fried sweet potato balls are so good they make me want to punch somebody.
Thi’s Place on Main has the best spring rolls. Her dipping sauce is a little odd smelling (rice wine I think) but you’ll be craving it after you try it.
The pizza place across from Northwestern (yeah, next to the gas station) has some really good, foldable, NY style pizza.
This is a great idea! As an International student (French…) from Winthrop I was wondering if anyone was going to start something like this My writing is too bad to actually start doing something like that…
I agree with Skye, McHales is a great place to go, the staff is very friendly, they have a great selection of liquor and beers and the top floor is a great place to chill out.
I would also punch somebody for the sweet potato balls from the Chinese buffet (Royal buffet?) : ))))
I have my best filet ever… EVER! At Harry and Jean’s (I think it was the Americana Filet topped with Blue crab and champagne sauce)
Charanda’s is a great place to go and the waiters are very friendly. I also think the food is better than in any other Mexican places in Rock Hill!
BTW I hate substation and the white horse…
Six Pence pub has a great wine selection!!! and their food is actually pretty good.
RedBowl is always great, they have good sushis/rolls/etc. and the rest of their menu is great too! I could kill for their General Tso chicken (eat it w/ fried rice)!
I love the bang bang chicken and shrimp from the cheesecake factory and their original cheesecake is just… WOW!!!
I have been to Boudreaux’s for the experience. They have Gator bites that are amazing and the jambalaya was great. I would definitely recommend that place too!
Nikkos has great sushis and I will never go back again to Ru San, since I saw two roaches running on the countertop! I didn’t finish my plate and ran outside… I finished the dinner at the Cheesecake Factory!
I have had my best dinner at Bonterra on Cleveland Avenue in Charlotte (the place is expensive though… A meal for two with two bottles of champagne cost me around $400 but the food was amazing and the place even more… It is located in an old church!)
ARPA is a great wine bar and their tapa’s are fantastic!!! I also recommend the place.
I have never had any bad surprises with the Capitol Grill but I think that Ruth Steak House steaks are not as good as everyone says.
If you love Indian food, the following place is the best place in town. They have the best Indian buffet on Friday nights! $12 of great Indian food. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves spicy food. I think I only saw one American couple once there. The rest of the people are only Indians! I love this place!
I think that is it… I will try more places and let you know if you think my critics are not bad
J.
People would probably take you more seriously if you had some type of culinary training or experience. Just seems odd that folks with no real knowledge are so quick to pass judgement and criticize local eateries.
I know that you usually review restaurants in Rock Hill but we would love for you to review our Fresh Produce on Ebenezer Rd. For directions go to http://www.bushnvinefarm.com/get-directions.html

Here’s some of my general food thoughts:
Best hot dogs in town: Nishi G’s

Ok, that’s enough for now!

Sorry the name of the Indian place is: Jaipur Indian Cuisine (I was too excited thinking of their food that I forgot to mention their names… : )))))
Thanks for the suggestions! Keep em coming!

Check out Jersey Shore Subs & Wraps. Next door to Ebinport school on India Hook. Not a franchise, locally owned & operated.
They bake their sub rolls several times per day, real fresh. Also, have fresh baked, real roast beef.
Everything is sliced, prepared to order. Very good, large wraps, five flavors I think. Try the buffalo chicken or honey turkey wraps.
They have 7 inch and 14 inch subs. Recently, they have had great deals on giant 14 inch cold subs, 2 for $15 or 3 for $20.
Best beef or chicken philly cheesesteaks in the area.
